Chiavari Harbour

The tourist harbour of Chiavari is protected by a corner outer breakwater with side docks until the entrance and by a inner breakwater towards SW; the outer breakwater and the North Dock are provided with wharfs.
Dangers: anchoring in front of Chiavari is dangerous with strong wind and libeccio sea. Entering the harbour with sea andwind from SW and SE is dangerous.
Access time: continous.
Access: boats have to pass, entering and going out, at least 30 meters from the light of the head of the flood barrier, in order to avoid the underwater part of the reef. Boats have to keep in the centre of the channel because of the limited depht (3 m). For any kind of boat (entering, leaving, in transit or just moving) the speed limit is set to 3 knots in the whole harbour and nearby. At the moment of arriving at the port approach to "arrival" dock, keeping the left, undert the control tower.
Lights and lighthouse:: 1697 (E 1257) - light flashing long green flashes, every 6 sec., reaches 6 M on the end of the jetty barrier (security distance 20 m); 1698 (E 1257.4) - light red , reaches 2 M on the end of the inner breakwater dock (security distance 10 m); 1697.2 (E 1257.2) - green light, reaches 2 M on the head of the inner protectin dock (security distance 10 m).
Seafloor: sandy.
Depht: in dock from 3,20 to 4,5 m
Radio: Vhf channel 10.
Berthing: 469. 40 are for transit.
Max lenght: 25 m.
Bans: it is forbidden anchoring more than 50 m from flood protection (South).
Winds: libeccio.
Breast rope: main from SW, second from SE.
Nearby safe inlets:: promontory of Portofino at 3 M towards West and Sestri Levante at 2 M towards East.
