SESTRI LEVANTE HARBOUR

The little harbour of Sestri Levante consists of a peer fitted with bitts directed towards North for 250 m, and of two wharfs. The first wharf is located at the root of the peer; the second wharf is at NW of the Sea Office (Ufficio Marittimo); at this last peer some little vessels are mooring.
Dangers: be careful a be careful to all vessels mooring at the buoy in the harbour; anchoring is allowed only outside the harbour area (from 1° May till September 30 anchoring is forbidden). Submerged reefs on top of the outer breakwater; be careful to strong winds when blowing from SW and N.
Hours of access: continuous.
Access: max speed allowed 3 knots. In order to berth at the transit quay please contact the local Sea Authority in advance (max length allowed 20 m). Berthing near the transit quays is allowed only by stern.
Lighthouses and beacons: 1700 (E 1258) -beacon with a steady green light, range 3 M at the head of the outer breakwater
Sea bed: sandy.
Shallow waters: in quays ranging from 0,50 to 8 m.
Radio: Vhf channel 16.
Available spaces for boats: 150 (6 for transit).
Max. length: 20 m; at buoy 12 m.
Divieti: from 1st of May to September 30, at the bay of Portobello or Silenzio bay and on the water surface limited by the ideal line that connects the head of the outer breakwater of the Sestri Levante harbour with the mouth of the river Gromolo, mooring with anchor and with wheel are forbidden.
Winds: I, III e IV quadrante.
Side-wind: tramontana and grecal gives some problems with moorings at quays
Nearest safe inlets: inlet in front of the west coast at 300 m from the shore.
